ABOUT ME

My name is Roxanne Ducharme, also known in the generative AI community as TrashCanRoxanne. I am a multi-award-winning French-Canadian AI Film Director, animator and visual artist based in Panama. An Emmy® Award winner, I combine four decades of traditional film animation, visual storytelling and art direction with generative technology to create surreal, poetic and emotionally resonant films. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Cinema from Concordia University in Montreal.

I am a Creative Partner with several leading generative AI platforms, collaborating with and testing emerging tools for filmmaking, animation and visual development.

My international career spans feature films, television series, documentaries, video games and advertising. I have worked as a director, animator, art director, animation supervisor, storyboard artist, concept artist, layout artist and character designer. My credits include Steven Spielberg’s animated feature An American Tail: Fievel Goes West, the Oscar-nominated animated short The Village and the Emmy® Award-winning children’s series Arthur. My illustrations have also appeared in animated documentary segments for National Geographic, Discovery Channel and the Science Channel.

Today, my work is focused on AI filmmaking, bringing decades of animation and cinematic experience to bold new forms of visual storytelling. My films have received multiple international awards and festival selections, and in 2026 I was named one of Leonardo.Ai’s Top 50 Women AI Filmmakers, in a list featured by Forbes Australia.
